Kamehameha Highway Traffic Update | Week of May 31, 2015

 

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) and contractor Kiewit want drivers to be aware of weekly lane closures along Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea as related to the Honolulu rail transit project.

For the safety of both the work crews and motorists, the public is advised to proceed with caution through these areas. Drivers should anticipate possible traffic delays or use alternate routes during work hours, and provide a safe distance between their vehicles and workers and equipment:


Waiawa Road to Acacia Road

  • One straight-through lane of Kamehameha Highway and one left-turn lane onto Acacia Road fronting Pearl Highlands Center (see map below) closed 24/7 in both directions through Summer 2015
  • Eastbound U-turns will still be allowed at the intersection

Acacia Road to Waimano Home Road
24-hour lane closures

  • One straight-through lane of Kamehameha Highway and one left-turn lane onto Waimano Home Road and Lehua Avenue (see map below) closed 24/7 in both directions through late 2015
  • Westbound U-turns still allowed at Waimano Home Road intersection

Puu Poni Street to Kuleana Road

  • One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway will be closed 24/7 through mid-2016.  Two eastbound lanes will remain open at this time. 
  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed from 8 p.m. with various left-turn restrictions.  One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

 

Monday through Friday lane closures
Waiawa Road to Waimano Home Road 

  • One westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Acacia Road closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • One eastbound lane also closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

 

Kuleana Street to Kaonohi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway (see map below) are closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left-turn restrictions. Two eastbound lanes are closed overnight between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. 

  • One eastbound lane is closed 24/7 near Blaisdell Park for roadway widening.

  • Intersection at Hekaha Street closed after 8 p.m. Motorists will be detoured to Kanuku Street and Lokowai Street.

Lipoa Place to Pali Momi Street

  • Right eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Pearl Kai Shopping Center closed 24/7 as part of roadway widening through Summer-2015.
  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Two eastbound lanes closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • The intersection at Lipoa Place is closed  weeknights after 10 p.m.

Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Westbound traffic along Kamehameha Highway near Honomanu Street (see map below) will be contraflowed to the eastbound direction between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

  • The right eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near the Pearl Kai Shopping Center (see map below) is closed 24/7 as part of roadway widening work through Summer - 2015.

Honomanu Street to Salt Lake Boulevard

  • One westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway closed between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  Up to three westbound lanes closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Closed westbound lanes near the boat ramp will be contraflowed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Westbound onramp to Moanalua Freeway (see map below) closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
