Kamehameha Highway Traffic Update | Week of November 23, 2014

 

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) and contractor Kiewit want drivers to be aware of weekly lane closures along Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea as related to the Honolulu rail transit project.

For the safety of both the work crews and motorists, the public is advised to proceed with caution through these areas. Drivers should anticipate possible traffic delays or use alternate routes during work hours, and provide a safe distance between their vehicles and workers and equipment:

No roadwork is scheduled along Kamehameha Highway through Aiea and Pearl City on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.

 

Various sections of the outside lanes of Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea in both directions will be closed Monday through Wednesday for overhead utility work between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Waiawa Road to Waimano Home Road

  • Utility relocation work  in area scheduled to run until mid-2015
  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway  (see map below) are closed Monday through Wednesday  between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are also closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • The intersection at Waimano Home Road is closed after 9 p.m.
  • The eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway between Waihona Street and the merge at Farrington Highway/Kamehameha Highway are closed Monday through Wednesday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway at Waiawa Road are closed Monday through Wednesday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Puu Poni Street to Kaonohi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway (see map below) are closed Monday through Wednesday between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Two eastbound lanes  of Kamehameha Highway are closed overnight on those same days between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Westbound drivers along Kamehameha Highway in the area will be contraflowed to the eastbound side of the highway Monday through Wednesday  8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • The intersection at Kaonohi Street is closed after 9 p.m. on weeknights
  • One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Kuleana Road (HECO-Waiau power plant) and fronting Neal Blaisdell Park is also closed 24/7 until early 2015. Left turns at Kuleana Road are also restricted.
  • Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway in that same vicinity will be closed between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday
  • Utility relocation work  in area scheduled to run until mid-2015

Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight Monday through Wednesday  between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. for utility relocation work. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will also be closed overnight on those same days between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Eastbound drivers along Kamehameha Highway will be contraflowed to the westbound side of the highway (see map below).
  • Two westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed Monday through Wednesday  from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions.

Moanalua Freeway on-ramp
The eastbound Moanalua Freeway on-ramp near McGrew Point (see map below) is closed Monday through Wednesday  weeknights between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Near Aloha Stadium

  • Right eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway from the Moanalua Freeway on-ramp to Salt Lake Boulevard (see map below) is closed 24/7.
  • Eastbound drivers along Kamehameha Highway will be contraflowed to the westbound side of the highway Monday through Wednesday  between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Area work to run until the end of the year.
