Kamehameha Highway Traffic Update | Week of August 2, 2015

 

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) and contractor Kiewit want drivers to be aware of weekly lane closures along Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea as related to the Honolulu rail transit project.

For the safety of both the work crews and motorists, the public is advised to proceed with caution through these areas. Drivers should anticipate possible traffic delays or use alternate routes during work hours, and provide a safe distance between their vehicles and workers and equipment:

Waiawa Road to Acacia Road

  • One straight-through lane of Kamehameha Highway and one left-turn lane onto Acacia Road fronting Pearl Highlands Center (see map below) closed 24/7 in both directions through Summer 2015
  • U-turns still allowed at Waimano Home Road intersection

Acacia Road to Waimano Home Road

  • One straight-through lane of Kamehameha Highway and one left-turn lane onto Waimano Home Road and Lehua Avenue (see map below) closed 24/7 in both directions through late 2015
  • U-turns still allowed at Waimano Home Road intersection
  • One westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Acacia Road closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.  One eastbound lane closed 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Monday through Friday lane closures.

Waimano Home Road to Puu Momi Street

  • Inside eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway closed 24/7 between Puu Momi  Street and Waimano Home Road through mid-2016 for column foundation work.   Two eastbound lanes will remain open during peak travel times.
  • One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway closed 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m
  • Two westbound lanes closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Inside eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway closed 24/7 between Puu Poni Street and Kuleana Road through mid-2016 for column foundation work. 
  • One eastbound lane between Puu Poni Street and Kuelana Road closed from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Two westbound lanes closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • One westbound lane will be closed between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Monday through Friday lane closures.

Kuleana Road to Kaonohi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway (see map below) are closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Two eastbound lanes are closed overnight between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Various left turn restrictions will be in place.

  • One westbound lane of Moanalua Road closed near Hoomalu Street between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Lipoa Place to Pali Momi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Two eastbound lanes closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • One westbound lane closed between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Pedestrians will be detoured to Kaonohi.

Monday through Friday lane closures.
Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Intersection at Pali Momi Street is closed after 10 p.m.

Honomanu Street to Salt Lake Boulevard Near Aloha Stadium

  • Up to three westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway are closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. 
  • Two eastbound lanes closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. 
  • Up to three westbound lanes of Salt Lake Boulevard will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. 
  • On Thursday, August 6, one lane of the westbound onramp to Moanalua Freeway will be closed for 24 hours.
