Kamehameha Highway Traffic Update | Week of October 26, 2014

 

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) and contractor Kiewit want drivers to be aware of weekly lane closures along Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea as related to the Honolulu rail transit project.

For the safety of both the work crews and motorists, the public is advised to proceed with caution through these areas. Drivers should anticipate possible traffic delays or use alternate routes during work hours, and provide a safe distance between their vehicles and workers and equipment:

 

Monday, October 27 to Friday, October 31

Various sections of the outside lanes of Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City and Aiea in both directions will be closed weeknights for overhead utility work between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Waiawa Road to Waimano Home Road

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. for utility relocation work. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • The intersection at Waimano Home Road will be closed weeknights after 9 p.m.
  • One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway will be closed 24/7 until end of October. An additional eastbound lane will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • The eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway between Waihona Street and the merge at Farrington Highway/Kamehameha Highway will be closed weeknights between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Monday, October 27 to Friday, October 31
Puu Poni Street to Kaonohi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. for utility relocation work. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • The intersections at Puu Poni Street and Kaonohi Street will be closed after 9 p.m. on weeknights.
  • Drivers heading westbound along Kamehameha Highway will be contraflowed to the eastbound side of the highway weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Kuleana Road will also be closed 24/7

Monday,  October 27 to Friday, October 31
Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

  • Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. for utility relocation work. Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Eastbound drivers along Kamehameha Highway will be contraflowed to the westbound side of the highway.
  • Two westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. with various left-turn pocket restrictions.

Moanalua Freeway on-ramp

The eastbound Moanalua Freeway on-ramp near McGrew Point (see map below) will be closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility relocation work.

Near Aloha Stadium

  • Right eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway from the Moanalua Freeway on-ramp to Salt Lake Boulevard (see map below) will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Eastbound drivers along Kamehameha Highway will be contraflowed to the westbound side of the highway on weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
